説明

This report describes the results of the experimental studies on the properties of fresh and hardened concrete made with weathered granite (Masado) fine aggregate comparing with that of the river sand concrete. At first, the physical properties such as grading, specific geavity, absorption and particle shape etc., of weathered granite fine aggregate are examined. Then the properties of fresh concrete are examined. It is shown that the water content required to produce a given slump is much more in Masado fine aggregate concrete than in the river sand concrete. But, use of superplasticizer with optimum fine aggregate ratio is found to be very effictve to reduce the water. Properties of hardened concrete such as compressive strength, tensile strength and bond strength, modulus of elasticity, drving shrinkage, resistance to freezing and thawing are examined. Though, in general, strength and durability are lower and shrinkage is larger in Masado concrete than the river sand concrete, Masado may be used as the fine aggregate of concrete provided the characteristics of Masado concrete are carefully considered in the design.
