Abstract

The Antarctic Ice Sheet history has been recorded on various sediments and rocks of the mountains, coasts and the ocean floor of Antarctica and its surroundings. Although these geomorphological and geological records are fragmentary, they provide unique data for reconstruction of the spatial expansion range, shrinking process and thermal subglacial environments of the past Antarctic Ice sheet. In this paper, we present the outline of the knowledge and understanding of the Antarctic Ice Sheets at the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) and their subsequent changes throughout the Holocene.
