Description

This study developed the Japanese version of the Gratitude Questionnaire (GQ-6; McCullough et al., 2002) and examined its reliability and criterion-related validity. A total of 216 undergraduates (44 men, 172 women) completed a questionnaire. The findings of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis showed that the scale was composed of one factor with five items. The Item-Total correlations and the Cronbach's alpha coefficient indicated acceptable reliability of the scale. The score of the scale was positively correlated with extraversion, promotion-focus orientation, general trust, and indebtedness. This result suggests criterion-related validity of the Japanese version of Gratitude Questionnaire.
