The present investigation was carried out to find the characteristic property of the pumping phenomenon by the over-flow foams from pumping pipe. The foam layer were made by foaming liquids blown gas. The results obtained are given in the following summary. (a). The pumping volume of liquids were studied against the blown gas volume under various foaming liguids. (b). The practicaJ characteritic property of this method was compered to air-lift meihod. In this way the possibility to practical application of the pumping liquid by the foam layer was established.

起泡性溶液にガスを吹きこむと，気液で構成された泡沫層ができる。いま起泡性溶液をいれた糟の中に一端を浸した管（揚液管）の底部にガスを導入すると溶液が泡立ち，これによってできた泡沫層が連続的に管内を上昇して管頂部から溢出してでてゆく。このように泡沫層の上昇によって層内に含有する液を得る揚液法を泡沫層揚液法とよぶ。これと相似た方法として現在実用されているものはエアリフト揚液法である。エアリフトは液中にガスを吹きこんで揚液するもので泡沫化しない点が異なっている。本報は泡沫層揚液法に関係する諸種の因子の影響を調べるとともに，揚液性能をエアリフト揚液法のそれと比較して，実用の可能性を検討した。
