Description

In this paper we will report the activities of the border field study in border island “Tsushima”and a Korean city, Pusan. Students and Professors of Cross-Boundary Innovation Program in Osaka University visited there and asked the local residents to provide local challenges while considering the natural environment, migration, regional development and border issues in Tsushima. Tsushima island is a typical remote island region where severe depopulation is going on. By conducting a workshop with local people who are working for local development, we aimed for mutually learned training activities at universities and regions. Through this activity, it displayed that the diverse careers of people who emigrated to the remote island and the reality of immigration from the city to the rural area, and the living conditions and social problems of the depopulated area.
