Description

A dual swirl lean direct injection burner consisting of a pressure swirl atomizer, a converging splitter nozzle separating dual swirl-air to the burner exit, a converging outer shroud, and inner and outer swirlers is being developed for a low NOx emissions regenerative micro gas turbine. Liquid fuel was atomized only into the air flow from the inner swirler. The NOx emissions of this burner are at the same level as lean premixed-prevaporized approach despite non-staging. Effects of air splitter tip shapes, air split ratios, fuel temperatures and inlet air pressures on NOx emissions characteristics were investigated to further reduce NOx emissions.
