Zhou Enlaiʼs recognition towards Japan when he was a student in Tianjin Nankai Middle School

Abstract

Zhou Enlai was studying in Tianjin Nankai Middle School, which was famous in China, from 1913 to 1917. The essays and articles, which were written by Zhou at that time, were found and well preserved right now by Nankai. In February 1982, Nankai University and Party Documents Research Office of the CPC Central Committee collected 52 essays of them in the Early Writings of Zhou Enlai, which is one of the most important documents to study Zhou. In February 2013, Tianjin Nankai Middle School and Party Documents Research Office of the CPC Central Committee edited the book again and added some notes and explanations, and then release the book Zhou Enlai Nan Kai Zhong Xue Zuo Wen Jian Ping, which is for the general reader. What’s more, the articles that Zhou wrote for the Nankai’s newspaper and magazines after class were also recorded in the Zhou Enlai Nan Kai Zhone Xue Xi Zuo Shi Ping, which was published in October 2014. This paper will make clear Zhou’s recognition towards Japan when he was a student in Tianjin Nankai Middle School by verifying these above mentioned documents.
