Modern men and women have lost their identities and have rushed into or are pushed into the hard shell of individualist ideology. In the workplace, workers are under the commnand and control of a top-down system enforced by an inhuman industrial bureaucracy, and are robbed of their identities. Whether the individual is freely and fully developed is judged by social status or by the person's role in a business firm. People are stimulated to mass consumption by the planned advertising of monopoly capital and reveal their social status by the purchase of affluent consumer durables. Politically, they are required to pay taxes to the state and are only able to enter into the political world as voters (indirect democracy rather than direct democracy). The crises of modernity are occurring in all fields of the social system which human beings have produced and by which they are regulated. Environmental destruction threatens the life of human beings themselves as well as plants and animals. The wasteful use of resources threatens to destroy the next generation's capacity to grow. The capacity of the state to integrate society is being weakened. Discipline and morals have also weakened. Heinous crimes, terrorism and wars have occurred all over the world. This article aims to analyze the roots of these crises of the social system.
