Abstract
We measured the traits and state of the athletes' psychological performance levels to investigate and clarify the factors related to the traits and state as well as to examine the relation between them. The subjects were 511 baseball players from 25 teams which participated in Kyushu district preliminary tournament to the 44th All-Japan College Semirigid Baseball Tournament. The results are summarized as follows: 1) Traits indicating their psychological performance levels varied depending on the year of college, age, level of baseball experience, number of prefectural-or national-level games participated in, performance results, and position. 2) In comparing the scores for psychological state during games between the two opposing teams, the majority of those on the winning teams showed higher scores. Regarding the mean scores for all players from the 1st to the final game, they were low in the 1at and 2nd games and rose as they got closer to the final game. The mean scores for individual teams were low for the teams which lost the 1st or 2nd game, and increased in proportion to the team’s ranking in the tournament. 3) The correlation between traits and state was significant from the_1st to the 3rd games. However, it decreased during the games to determine the 5th to 8th places and the final game. We analyzed the traits related to the players' psychological state during the 3rd game, yet recognized no significant standard partial regression coefficient.
