Description

A three dimensional hybrid code has been developed to analyze plasma behaviors in magnetic field for the purpose of its engineering applications such as the magnetic thrust and the direct energy converter. The hybrid code is effective when the system is dominated by the motion of ion. The motion of ion is solved explicitly, and the electric and magnetic fields are solved selfconsistently. The hybrid code employed the predictor-corrector method to solve the equation for the electric field, and a digital filter was used to cut off numerical noises in Eulerian quantities. The numerical solver was described in detail. As an example of the calculations with this code, the dispersion relations for right and left circular waves and Alfven wave were numerically calculated and those were compared with the analytical solutions in order to validate the code.
