Abstract

Investigations of the spider-fauna and seasonal fluctuation of major species in the paddy field ecosystem at Tsuya, Fukuoka City were made for three years, from February, 1972 to December, 1974. A total of 19,220 specimens was collected by the sweeping method and 37 species in 31 genera belonging to 13 families were identified. The dominant species were Theridion octomaculatum Boesenberg et Strand (46.4% of the total catch of specimens), Neoscona doenitzi (Boesenberg et Strand) (9.0%), Misumenops tricuspidatus (Fabricius) (8.2%) and Tetragnatha japonica Boesenberg et Strand (7.7%). Among them, major 21 species were discussed on their seasonal fluctuations.
