Abstract

Ommyôdo 陰陽道 in our country was very prosperous under the autocracy of Kuge 公家-nobility in the Heian era and its Japanization was almost accomplished, by which the important part of culture and education of Kuge was also built up; being thought to be a monopoly of Kuge, it penetrated into the Buke class and formed the so-called Kanto-Ommyôdô 関東陰陽道 as the Buke-Kojitsu 武家故実 on the establishment of Buke administration in the Kamakura era; which can be taken as a process of its closer approach to the general public, not as the simple aristocratization of Shogunate. On the other hand, the shift of Kuge society to deadlock made Ommyôshi 陰陽師 leave the Court as a patron and many become the Shogunate Ommyôshi down to Kamakura, with the Abe 安倍 clan as the central figure; in the very time there was a primary cause why the Abe clan (Tsuchimikado (土御門)) took theleadership of Ommyôdo circle in the future. In this article these conditions are to be examined around Azumakagami 吾妻鏡.
