Research on university professors in Asia has shown that the emphasis on research activities among university faculty in developing countries is growing. A similar trend is seen in Mongolia. This paper aims to clarify the attitude of Mongolian faculty members to the image and research activities of university faculty members. At the National University of Mongolia, an organization was organized, an overview, and an awareness survey was conducted with a focus on university teachers. As a result, looking at the rules at the national level, university faculty are divided into five classes: professors, associate professors, assistant professors, and lecturers, training lecturers. It turns out that there is also a need to conduct activities that contribute to society in addition to research and academic activities. On the other hand, according to the rules of the National University of Mongolia, it has been found that the number of years of service has been emphasized in raising the rank of teachers, and there has been a deviation from the rules with the government. In addition, while the rules state that teachers mainly conduct educational activities, teachers' awareness surveys revealed that teachers themselves mainly want to conduct research activities, and there are gaps. Faculty members were worried that the conditions for their research activities were not in place, and they were particularly dissatisfied with their research time and government assistance. Based on the above, teachers in Mongolia recognize the importance of research, as in Vietnam, and are dissatisfied with the lack of an improved environment for conducting research, similar to Cambodia. However, in Mongolia, teachers have always stated that education is at the center of their activities, even at the level of university rules, especially in the rules on time allocation for education and research. Therefore, it can be said that there is a problem in how to balance the concept of education-oriented regulations with the focus on research activities that university faculty members have in the future.
