Abstract

Abstract With the changing times, cultures, and technologies, it is a grinding task to create the ideal teaching method for teaching English as a foreign or second language. Throughout the decades, methods have been pitted against each other as they vie for their place at the top of the teaching curriculum. The Communicative Language Teaching method is one of these. This study explores the eff ects of the CLT method to Japanese learners of English, focusing on some of the advantages and disadvantages of the method in a more Japan-classroom-centred manner. Research about CLT in Japan from diff erent researchers were also reviewed.
