The author tried to make a 10-phase evaluation chart of physical fitness on Japanese elderly men and women aged 60 to 90. This study valued self-efficacy of elderly on the making the 10-phase evaluation. Physical fitness test was conducted on 106 men and 697 women. The test items were 1) one-leg balance with eye-opened, 2) 10 meters walking getting over obstacles, 3) grip strength, 4) sitting trunk flexion, 5) moving test between 2 chairs intervals, 6) 30-second squat times on the chair, 7) both legs stepping times for 30-second sitting on the chair, 8) forward step times for 30-second, 9) shuttle stamina walk for 3 minutes, and 10) step length with comfortable speed. Mean values and standard deviations were calculated as for every 5 years old on 10 measured items. Mean value of physical fitness of this study population was set at 6 of 10 phases and the range of each phase was mean value ± 0.25 standard deviation. Self-efficacy of elderly people must be considered to evaluate physical fitness, because one of important meaning of physical fitness test must be raising-up the motivation for exercise. Tables of 10-phase evaluation were made on the each test with distinction of age and sex for every 5 years old. This study was one suggestion for evaluation method of physical fitness on elderly people.
