Abstract

This article examines the murder of Eglon by Ehud in the Ehud story in the book of judges 3:12-30. First, עליח המקרה in v. 20 and חדר המקרה in v. 24 are discussed, and a relationship between מקרה and "beam" is proposed. Second, we look at some interpretations of two hapax legomena: הפרשדנה in v. 22a and המםדרונה in v. 23a. Finally, Baruch Halpern's scatological interpretation is discussed as an example in terms of בעדו in v. 23b and “lock."
