Abstract

This research aimed at clarifying the relevance of the "irritated feeling" which is relevant to everyday life and mental health of a multicultural family's foreign wife in Korea. This investigation was targeted 2,000 foreign wives of the multicultural family who lives in the C province in Korea. Stress cognition relevant to everyday life was analyzed as an independent variable, the mental health measured by a GHQ-12 was analyzed as a dependent variable, "age difference between husband and a wife", "difference of education background", "marriage form", "a husband's income" and "a wife's Korean acquisition situation" was analyzed as a control variable by structural equation modeling. The result is that irritated feeling of multicultural family's foreign wife is closely related to the mental health and especially, "negative feelings towards people of family and neighbor" and "economical general tightness" was strongly related to the mental health. From the above, this research was suggested the necessity of intervening the stress problem which multicultural family's foreign wife in Korea currently faced in everyday life positively from a social welfare's point of view.
