Description

Taira no Shigehira is the third son of Taira no Kiyomori and Taira no Tokiko, and is the Kiyomori's last son. He saw the Heike grow up in a glorious state with the trust of Goshirakawa-In, and to perish four years after his father Kiyomori's death. In history, he carries the Punishment of the Buddha as a general who burned down Todaiji Temple in Nara. In The Tale of heike, it was possible to paint only as a villain who burned down many innocent people and melted the Great Buddha. But he is portrayed as a man loved by many women after being caught alive. Why is that? I considered his character image using the books of "Heike Monogatari" and "Angenonga no Ki".
