In this paper I will thoroughly analyse the development of the Luxembourgish common language, “koine”, as well as discuss its orthography. By this means I will explain the viewpoints of the intellectuals who played an active role from the 19th to the first half of the 20th century in Luxembourg and I will look for reasons which can explain the development of “koine”. ......
