Like the generation of radicals by ultraviolet rays onto titanium dioxide (TiO_2), the irradiation of ultrasound in aqueous solution results in significant generation of radicals. The mechanism is that the ultrasound irradiation creates micro air bubbles as a cavitation and the collapse energy of the bubble contributes the generation of radical. Instead of the irradiation of ultrasound, we proposed a generation of air bubbles by the mechanical system drove by giant magnetostrictive actuator. The paper proved experimentally the generation of radicals and the degradation of methylene blue as chemical reaction.
