[SUMMARY] Kamuyyukar (Sinyo) is an epic that has been handed down for a long time by the Ainu people. Even though it is the sam story, the word and the melody are different for each performer. This paper examines the relationship between the number of syllables and the rhythm through the analysis of recorded materials chanted by three performers in each of the two stories of kamuyyukar. The analysis shows that there are two different rhythmic styles of chanting in the same story. One is based on the rhythm of a four-syllable line, and the other is based on the rhythm of a five-syllable line. The method of distributing syllables within a line depends on the rhythmic style, under the condition that the time in each line is the same regardless of the number of syllables and the time taken by the last two syllables is the same.
