[ABSTRACT] In this paper, I analyze the semantic category of existential aspect forms “kor an” and “wa an” in Ainu. It will be pointed out that these aspect forms are associated with not only the temporal factor but also the spatial factor, especially the existence or non- existence in a given space. Furthermore, taking into consideration that these forms express a temporary state, I suggest that “kor an” and “wa an” can function as present tense markers.
