1900年 12月 13日に 94歳で他界した不世出の理論経済学者サミュエルソンを偲び, 国際経済理論の分野でこの巨人が成し遂げた業績を選別的に解説するとともに, 顕示的選好理論に基づく「貿易と厚生」の諸問題の包括的分析, 国際資本移動や不完全競争を考慮したヘクシャー・オリーン理論の拡張など, その継承と展開をめざしてきた私自身の仕事を紹介する。 I remember the unparalleled theoretic economics scholar Samuelson, who passed away on December 13, 2009, at age 94; selectively explaining the achievements built by this giant in the field of international economics theory, I humbly introduce my own study that inherits and develops a comprehensive analysis of the various issues of "trade and welfare," based on the revealed preference theory and an expansion of Heckscher–Ohlin's theory that considered international capital movement and imperfect competition, among other issues.
