In this study, young children (4-6years old) were examined to that ability of recognizing facial expression in various items such as illustration, emoji, kaomoji(emoticon) and animoji. Subjects were distinguished the two groups depend on pass or no-pass for the task about theory of mind (ToM), and required to answer for what kind of face or emotion by presented items. The results as follows; all of symbols were not to familiar with young children because of no use their selves for smartphone, tablet and/or PC. Especially, kaomoji is not stand for emotion icon, just like the alphabets for young children. Finally, there are very important findings that these symbols (contain illustrations) is not promote to understand and translate to the real world for young children.
