本稿は,先の事例研究(藤田, 2005)で扱ったニコラウス・クザーヌス(1401～1464)の神学思想と大乗仏教の本覚思想との関連を論じたものである。まず前者の特徴を振り返り,次に後者の概観を行った後,本覚思想の起点となる『大乗起信論』について重点的検討を加え,論中の「本覚」にかかわる展開が(A〓Ā)=Aという図式的論理に集約可能なことを提示した。

The purpose of this paper is to discuss a close relation between the theological thought of Nicholas of Cusa (1401-1464) treated in the previous case study and the thought of intrinsic Buddhahood in the Mahayana Buddhism. After the former gist and the latter outline were described, intensive consideration was given to Asvaghosa's Discourse on the Awakening of Faith in the Mahayana, the original source book of the thought of intrinsic Buddhahood. As the result of it, the scheme of (A〓Ā)=A found in the theological thought of Nicholas of Cusa was available for having a clear conception of intrinsic Buddhahood.
