筆者は、法政大学文学部の教授陣が日本におけるカント哲学研究に果たしてきた重要な役割を解明する。第一に、明治・大正・昭和・平成・令和の時代を通じて、法政大学の教授たちは、カント哲学の翻訳・受容・研究等の諸領域で精力的に活躍し、カント哲学の研究に重要な役割を果たしてきた。そこで筆者は、本論文でこれらの主要な研究成果を紹介する。第二に、筆者が法政大学を退職した時に、筆者は「カント・コレクション」を「HOSEIミュージアム」に寄贈した。そこでこの機会に、カントの胸像のレプリカ、記念硬貨、そしてカントの原典及び研究文献等、本コレクションの主要な資料を紹介する。第三に、本論考では、法政大学の教授陣と岩波書店とのカント哲学研究書の出版上の関係を明らかにする。本学の教授陣は、西洋哲学に関する翻訳書及び研究書の出版について、今日まで岩波書店との密接な関係をもっている。特に、本学文学部の創立に貢献した夏目漱石門下の教授たちは、岩波書店から刊行された多数の書物により、カント哲学に関する入門書、翻訳書、研究書等の出版活動に貢献した。また、法政大学出版局の看板シリーズ「叢書　ウニべルシタス」の研究教育上の業績も紹介する。最後に、筆者は、文学部の教授陣が法政大学憲章の理念「自由を生き抜く実践知」にも関連する平和研究の活動の歴史的経緯についても明らかにする。

The author elucidates the important role that professors in the Faculty of Letters of Hosei University have played in the study of Kant’s philosophy in Japan. First, throughout the Meiji, Taisho, Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa periods, professors of Hosei University have played an active and important role in translating, introducing, and researching Kant’s philosophy. In this paper, the author introduces the major relevant research achievements. Second, when the author retired from Hosei University, he donated his “Kant Collection” to Hosei Museum. Therefore, he will take this opportunity to introduce the main contents of this collection, including busts and commemorative coins of Kant and copies of Kant’s major works. Third, the author will clarify the close relationship between research on Kant by professors at Hosei University and Iwanami Shoten. Since the establishment of the Faculty of Letters, the professors of this university have maintained a close relationship with this publishing company regarding the publication of translated books related to research on Western philosophy, especially Kant’s philosophy, introductory books, research books, and so on; a similar relationship was maintained between Soseki Natsume’s disciples and Iwanami Shoten before the founding of the faculty. In addition, this paper will introduce the activities of Hosei University Press in the “Universitas Series.” Last, the author also clarifies that professors in the Faculty of Letters have continued Kant’s tradition of peace studies, which is also associated with “Practical Wisdom for Freedom” as set out in the Hosei University Charter.
