- Effect of Solution Treatment on Oxidation in Suspension Plasma Sprayed Thermal Barrier Coating

<p>In this study, thermal barrier coatings made by Suspension Plasma Spraying (SPS) and Atmospheric Plasma Spraying (APS) were subjected to thermal exposure at 1000°C and 1100°C for up to 1000 h after the solution treatment. Then, the morphology and elemental distribution of interfacial oxides were investigated. The SPS specimens showed remarkably low porosity especially between topcoat (TC) and thermally grown oxide (TGO), meaning the high adhesiveness caused by solution treatment. In addition, the microstructure of the coating was homogenized and the formation of complex oxides during the thermal exposure test was suppressed.</p>
