Abstract

A 52-year-old male was hospitalized for fever and painful erythema with pustules on the head, neck, and extremities. He was diagnosed with Sweet's syndrome and treated with oral steroids. Although the pustules showed improvement, the patient's general condition deteriorated, and erythema multiforme appeared on his trunk from the third day of hospitalization. Because the skin and systemic symptoms were prolonged even after the corticosteroid pulse therapy, plasma exchange and intravenous immunoglobulin therapy were performed. Lansoprazole, which tested positive in the drug lymphocyte stimulation test, was also stopped. After the therapy, both his general condition and skin rash improved. We diagnosed the patient with Sweet's syndrome followed by severe erythema multiforme type-drug eruption.
