Unsteady flow simulation of industrial gas turbine compressor under start-up operation

説明

In this paper, unsteady flows in the actual gas turbine compressor operating at an advanced combined cycle power station were simulated under the conditions of full-load operation and three different start-up operations. The three cases considered were a low flow-rate condition with the designed rotational speed (3000 rpm), the half of design rotational speed condition (1500 rpm), and further a lower rotational speed condition (700 rpm). In this study, the inlet guide vane (IGV), first-stage rotor and stator, and second-stage rotor were considered. As a result, unsteady flows were captured for all three cases. The obtained unsteady flow results were visualized at the first stage. In the results, rotating stall cells were visualized in the cases of the rotating speed at 3000 rpm and 700 rpm. Particularly in the former case, six stall cells were rotated at a speed of 110% faster than that of the rotor blade. Such unsteady stall cells obviously affected to the downstream flows and induced the pressure fluctuations on the blades.
