Description
<p>In recent years, learning commons spaces have become prevalent in university libraries throughout Japan. The purpose of this study is to clarify the characteristics and operational status of learning commons by focusing on spaces where students can eat and drink, which are thought to contribute to their active learning. The study targets 125 university libraries across Japan, and clarified that students use the spaces in different ways depending on their spatial characteristics, as well as operational issues. It suggests the possibilities and challenges of effective use for active learning.</p>
