説明

Olivine basaltic rocks associated with various alkalic rocks are developed widely in Higashimatsuura and Ikutsuki-jima district. The mineral paragenesis and chemical composition show that most basalts belong to alkali rock series with alkali-lime index of 50.5. The rests belong to calc-alkali rock series derived from alkali olivine basalt magma. It is interesting to note that some trachyandesites and alkali rhyolites contain pigeonite or pigeonitic augite as main constituents, although they belong to the alkali rock series in chemical composition. New chemical analyses of eighteen plagioclases, five olivines, two orthopyroxenes, five clinopyroxenes, one riebeckite and one phlogopite, and of eight-nine bulk compositions of basalts and their derivatives are presented. The main rock types are examined in detail and reaction relation of mafic and felsic minerals are described in this paper. Some discussions will be made on the relation between the evolutional trend of rock-forming minerals and the chemical compositions of the host rocks.
