Jakobson and Lévi-strauss (1962) [以下, J & L (1962) ] は, 言語学と人類学の連携をもとに, ボードレールの「猫たち」 (Les Chats) の分析を試みた革新的な論文である。小論では, 主としてDelcroix and Geerts ed. (1980) [以下, D & G ed. (1980) ]に所収されている論文の中から幾人かの研究者の論文を選び, それらを詳細に検討することによって, ヤコブソン学派の理論が受け入れられ, また拒絶されてきたかを明らかにする1)。

Approaching poetry from the combined viewpoints of linguistics and anthropology, Jakonbson and Lévi-Strauss (1962) proposes a radically new treatment of poetry in the analysis of Charles Baudelaire's `Les Chats'. In scrutinizing the arguments of several disciplines and schools with special reference to Delcroix and Geerts ed. (1980), this paper makes it clear how the Jakobsonian theory has been accepted, and how rejected.
