Abstract

Recently, food delivery services have been attracting attention. This study examines the feasibility of continuing food delivery services using taxis, based on a case study in Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture. Restaurants welcomed the reduction in the burden of food delivery by not having to make deliveries at their own restaurants, but complained about the difficulty of dispatching taxis at night, when the number of taxis is decreasing. On the other hand, taxi companies may perceive the service as unprofitable due to the waiting time after the restaurant arrives and the time required to send money to the user and the restaurant. Therefore, in this study, we estimated the delivery fee that taxi companies could continue to participate in food delivery and the amount users were willing to pay.
