Abstract

<p>As the binder, a waterborne resin having a hydrophilic group is used. There are two types of these resins, one in which water is added after synthesis, and the other which is synthesized in the presence of water. In industrial lines such as automobiles, there are many applications that obtain a cross-linked film from the former type of resin, and in the general-purpose field, the latter emulsion-polymerized latex is widely used. In this lecture, I will explain the composition and characteristics of waterborne coatings, the resins used and film formation, and introduce typical application examples.</p>
