Abstract

<p>In this study, we clarified the actual conditions of local activities related to community revitalization and the factors that influence them in Tamba area, Hyogo prefecture, based on a questionnaire survey. Among the participation in local activities, "creation of a safe and secure environment" and "preservation and improvement of the neighborhood environment" related to the living environment were found to be the most active local activities, regardless of the degree of progress of small-scale settlements. In addition to potential issues such as the degree to which settlements are becoming smaller, mutual interaction between local residents and migrants was found to contribute to the activation of other local activities. In order to develop "creation of new livelihoods" related to future regional revitalization, it is effective to activate mutual exchange between local residents and migrants.</p>
