Purpose : This study aimed to evaluate an institution’s medical policy of treating undescended testes. Methods : We analyzed all patients who presented with abnormally positioned testis between 2000 and 2015 in our hospital. We designated 2000-2008 as the earlier period, and 2008-2015 as the later period. We then retrospectively investigated their diagnosis, age at presentation, and surgery from their medical records. Results : A total of 110 patients were examined in the earlier period and 194 in the later period. The median age at presentation was 11.5 and 11 months in the earlier and later periods, and that at surgery was 18 and 17 months, respectively. The number of patients who continued to attend appointments for five years increased to 75.8% in the later period. Conclusions : A trend toward earlier surgery for undescended testes has been observed. In our institution, initial diagnosis and age at surgery showed a decreasing trend, but this trend remains insufficient. In the later period, the rate of regular visits after surgery increased.
