Abstract

Four cases of electric injuries experienced at our hospital during the past 14 months were examined. In all cases, injuries were caused by high voltage (6,000-60,000V) and serum creatinine kinase level (CK) was elevated (the maximum value 649-2,022 IU/L), though no case showed serious pathology. One patient (6,000V, maximum CK 1,130) needed finger amputation and flap surgery. Another patient (6,600V, maximum CK 649) was diagnosed as thoracic vertebral compression fracture after discharge. CK did not correlate with the incidence of complications in our study. Various inner damages may lurk so that positive body scrutiny is necessary according to the symptoms.
