Abstract

[Purpose] In this study, we focused on the light rubbing method and the strong rubbing method in manual therapy, and devised and fabricated a device for measuring the strength in order to verify the effectiveness of these techniques. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the specifications of this device and to report its usage. [Specifications of this device]The device is made of wood and consists of a box and a bottom plate. Two cuffs of electronic sphygmomanometer are installed inside the outer frame to measure the downward pressure. The bottom plate had a spare width of 4 cm on the left, right, front and back from the box part, and was used for installation (vise fixation) with the pedestal. [Measurements]The two blood pressure cuffs in the box were inflated to 30 mmHg, and the Passing board was placed above the cuffs. The performer performed the light rubbing method and the strong rubbing method in a manner that the performer moved the palmar base of the hand back and forth 2 times/second on the Passing board. [Reliability and validity of this device] The reliability and validity of this device are considered to be the problems of this study and will be addressed in the future.
