 With the explosive growth in population, the severity of the protein shortage has increased. Fish and shellfish are important food resources, accounting for approximately 16 % of the world's animal protein supply. Therefore, the promotion of aquaculture is also important to continue providing nutrient-rich food to the human race.<br> Fish farms, however, have many cases of infections caused by stress due to deterioration of water quality, high density rearing and increased contact pressure with pathogens. The spread of infectious diseases can cause fish to die and lead to reduced production. Due to the progress of global warming, the area where fish can be farmed is also decreasing. In addition, many kinds of fish have high protein requirements and significantly lower carbohydrate availability, so they need to provide more protein. The survival of the aquaculture business has also become difficult due to the high price of feed caused by a decrease in protein resources.<br> We have shown that several bio-resources, such as lactoferrin and wild plant-derived minerals, can enhance a fish's biodefense activity and stress-reducing effect, and promote the use of carbohydrates as a substitute for protein in the diet. The use of these bio-resources will enable us to meet the world's growing demand for marine products while protecting limited marine resources. Here's a brief description of the details.
