Abstract

<p>Everything is now connected to the Internet, and cyber-attacks pose a serious threat to society. Trends in cyber-attacks are changing as time goes by. Remote work rapidly spread due to novel coronavirus infections, and it provided cybercriminals with new attack vectors. Since 2020, the number of malware detections has remained at a high level, and the two most hazardous malware are ransomware, such as LockBit, and Emotet. This paper describes these threats from the perspective of a malware analyst and offers effective countermeasures that can be implemented by non-administrators.</p>
