<p>In recent years, optimization and efficiency improvement of manufacturing systems have been promoted through digital transformation. However, the complexity of manufacturing systems and diversified digital technologies make it difficult to realize such transformation successfully. This study proposes a method to support the development of digital solutions to realize DX, based on the 'digital triplet' concept. Digital Triplet is a manufacturing concept that aims to effectively utilize engineers' knowledge with digital technology. In this paper, digital solutions include fault detection systems and production planning systems in manufacturing systems. This method represents the process knowledge explicitly for developing digital solutions and reuses the knowledge. As a case study, we described the process of developing fault detection systems based on interviews with engineers. This made it possible to clarify and share the engineers’ process that has not been explicit. In addition, we supported a novice engineer by utilizing the descriptions. This clarified the effectiveness and challenges of the proposed method.</p>
