Abstract

Wu Jun (呉均, AD469-520) is a representative poet in the Southern Dynasty, his style of poetry was called as Wu Jun ti (呉均体) and turned out many epigones. However, studies and analyses on the literature of Wu Jun has not gone far enough. This paper tried to analyze poems exchanged between him and famous poets to check up on his relationships. From the result of this analysis, it was revealed that Wu Jun rose in the world as a poet with the endorsement of Liu Yun (柳惲), who was interested in a new movement of literature, Yong ming Xin ti shi (永明新体詩), in the Southern Dynasty. The Works of Wu Jun was produced under an influence of this new movement of literature and his style of poetry, Wu Jun ti, was its by-product.
