Abstract

In this paper, in order to investigate the failure behavior of the cushion rubber set RC beams strengthened in flexure with AFRP sheet reaching the sheet debonding failure under static load, the drop-weight impact loading tests were conducted due to increas-ing the input impact energy. The results obtained from this study were as follows: 1)by setting the cushioning rubber on the impacted area of the beams, intensity of the primary impact force can be decreased by approximately one-fifth that without setting cushion rubber and damage near the loading area can be effectively decreased; and 2)even though the sheet debonding can be restrained, the beams may reach the ultimate state with the sheet ruptublack under inputting a high impact energy.
