Description

This study examines whether information and communication technology (ICT) can promote diversity, which has received much attention in recent years. This study is organized as follows. First, we trace the evolution of the concept of diversity. Next, we identify the characteristics of diversity as “creating workplaces that promote awareness through diversity”. Third, we discuss how ICT can contribute to the formation of ‘ba’, which refers to the field in which work is carried out, is the concept that forcuses on the psychological and informational interactions of people that occur there. The results reveal that two functions of ICT, that is, functions that change the way people think about the office and induce spontaneity, support the foundations of diversity. Therefore, ICTs promote diversity and inclusion indirectly through the support of “ba”.
