Description
Recently, investigations of safety in the MRI procedure attract attention in widespread use of high magnetic field scanners. In particular, there is no definite guideline for measures of implanted patients, and the actual measures differ among respective hospitals. We carried out the qustionary survey for 130 of hospitals and clinics having MRI scanners in Hiroshima prefecture, and received 87 answers. The result shows that accidents of metal attraction occur in 40% of hospitals and clinics, the regular safety education is done only in 6% of them, and no standard guideline for measures of implanted patients exists. The implementation of MRI safety education and the establishment of safety guidelines for metallic implants are indispensable.
