Abstract

In 1999, some species belonging to the family Tectocepheidae were collected from a beech forest at the Shirakami-sanchi World Heritage Area, which was the first Nipponese site inscribed on the World Heritage List together with Yakushima Island in 1993. One of them was described as a new species, Tectocepheus shirakamiensis spec. nov. It was considered that the genus Nemacepheus might be a representative of the family Nodocepheidae.
