<p>　　Liquid biopsy is a remarkable and useful tool for detecting biomarkers in patients with various cancers. It has the potential to allow comprehensive evaluation of tumors, not only for predicting the diagnosis and prognosis before the start of treatment, but also for monitoring during treatment. Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and circulating extracellular nucleic acids (cell-freeDNA; cfDNA)/circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) that are shed from tumor tissues into the bloodstream are the targets of liquid biopsy. In this report, we would like to suggest that liquid biopsy might be a very useful tool for optimization and personalization of cancer treatment.</p>
