Abstract

Thermoresponsive polymeric particles have a wide range of applications in biomaterials engineering, diagnostic materials, and drug delivery systems (DDS). By precise design of polymeric particles, it is possible to provide different functions to both the surface and particle core. Especially in DDS, it has been recently reported that these functions can be used to promote or inhibit the uptake of polymer particles into cells. In this paper, we review the development of biomaterials using thermoresponsive particles with the ability to change surface properties and core shape in response to thermoresponsive behavior.
