<p>In recent years, the primary energy consumption has been incresing globally. Demands for biomass fuels, which are carbon neutral, have been becoming larger. However, biomass fuels have problems such as low energy density and low transportation efficiency. To solve them, biomass gasification has gained broad attention. In this study, we investigated the effect of CO2 as an oxidant in the gasification reaction of woody biomass. CO2 gasification experiments were conducted under three conditions with different CO2 concentrations using an electrically heated drop tube furnace, and the produced gas was analyzed for chemical compositions. As a result, it was found that CO production increased with increase in CO2 concentration under the experimental conditions while H2 production decreased.</p>
