Abstract

<p>The utilization of woody biomass in Tochigi Prefecture、Japan was evaluated from the perspectives of economic efficiency and environmental impact. As a result, it was clarified that (1) the carbon dioxide emissions for lumber production were approximately 10% of the amount of carbon fixed in the product. (2) it has approximately 4% of the cost reduction effect on material usage utilizing lumber scraps for energy and 10% of it utilizing forest residues for energy. Based on the above results, it is expected that the integrated use of woody biomass for material and energy use will expand its utilization and promote low-carbonization with economic rationality.</p>
